Who We Are
Who We Are
St. Croix Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu: Born out of passion and community.
Eric Robinson relocated to St. Croix in 2017. As a Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner, he quickly realized that local training options were limited unless he helped create them. Rather than give up training, he began teaching and founded St. Croix Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu that same year. The first classes were held in Orange Grove before moving to Beeston Hill Fitness Club, now known as Beyond Limits Fitness Centre.
From the start, Eric emphasized the wellness aspects of jiu-jitsu, focusing on having fun and sharing a sense of community. Each week, he offered kids classes for ages 8–12, classes for ages 13–16, and co-ed adult classes. Eric also co-founded Lion Haven with his good friends Justin Smith and Addison Griffin, a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide at-risk youth with the resources, guidance, and opportunities they need to learn, grow, and thrive through programs in education, fitness, the arts, and wellness.
Eric returned to the mainland in 2023, where he continues to share his passion for jiu-jitsu through Jiu-Jitsu Collective, created to bring people together and share a love of submission grappling while focusing on the broader community.
The vision continues.
Today, St. Croix Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu continues to emphasize community involvement, personal relationships, wellness, and quality instruction in a safe and friendly environment. By emphasizing the social aspects of jiu-jitsu as much as the technique, our classes are upbeat and fun, while the students are warm and welcoming to beginners and experienced practitioners. The coaching staff are experienced practitioners, and several are vetted career law enforcement officers with decades of experience in physical tactics, use of force, self-defense, and firearms instruction. Instructors are heavily involved in the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association 111 Project, a non-profit organization that promotes jiu-jitsu training for local, state, and federal law enforcement officers to enhance officer safety, increase community safety, and create better outcomes for all parties in a use-of-force situation. At St. Croix Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, we pride ourselves on being a welcoming, fun, and exciting place for the community to learn a martial art, enhance their abilities to defend themselves, and become a part of something much greater than themselves. On the mats at St. Croix Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, members become family, and family become lifelong friends.
